Things are really tight for families right now. Don't feel bad, everyone is struggling to pay their bills and feed the family. Below are some resources that can help!Vinton Pantry is open on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The pantry is located on the west side of 811 D Ave. Vinton. 3rd Saturday of each month from 10-11:00 a.m. bring your bags and some help, to carry the goodies home with you! The pantry is available at Wesley United Methodist Church located at 516 2nd Ave.
Fun is in the Cards
Do you just need to have a bit of fun? Enjoy a good hand of cards? Would you like to learn how to play? You're invited to join in the fun for a game of 500 and Pepper at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesdays or Cribbage at the Vinton Skate Center at 9 a.m. on Thursdays.
Newhall Fire Department Holding its first Food Drive
.As the Holidays are approaching, the Newhall Fire Department is hosting its first annual food drive. As we know, the holidays can be a difficult time of the year. The goal is to provide food to families/persons in the community who are in need through the Christmas season.This is a great way to give to your community and help those who are less fortunate.

Virginia Gay Hospital Christmas Tree Walk is Back!
The Annual Christmas Tree Walk is back at Virginia Gay Hospital. Evening viewing of the trees will be held at the following times. -The first three Saturdays in November, from 9:00 a.m. until Noon-Evening of Thursday, November 10th from 5:-7:00 p.m.-Sunday afternoon November 13th from 1-3:00 p.m.-Final bid on the trees and displays will be on Saturday, November 19th at 11:00 a.
CP LIBRARY FRIENDS SAYS: NO MITTEN KNITTIN’ PLEASE
For this November and December Friends of the Center Point Library is changing up the holiday giving tree at the Library. Since hats and mittens are a current glut on the donation market, Friends is putting up a Stuff the Stocking tree instead, for the donation of personal care items for stocking the HACAP food pantry at the Library.This change, however, is no excuse for idle hands.

Veterans Day Assembly Scheduled for November 11 at 9:45 a.m.
The Vinton Shellsburg Community School District will be hosting its annual Veterans Day Assembly. On Friday, November 11th the assembly will begin at 9:45 a.m.Breakfast for Veterans and their partners will be after 8:30 a.m. in the Middle School Cafeteria. Vinton Library Board sets meeting for planning of Friends of the Library Chapter
An informational meeting will be held by members of the Library Board concerning plans to open a Friends of the Library chapter for the Vinton Public Library.The meeting will be Tuesday, November 8th beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the library located at 510 2nd Ave. in Vinton.Everyone is welcome to come and listen in on the discussion!
